Fraser Crinklaw
MSW UBC
BSW UBC
Certificate of Social Services Ryerson Polytechnical Institute
Fraser retired after more than 20 years as a faculty member in the Access Programs for People with Disabilities Department at Kwantlen Polytechnic University where he started in August 1991. He is one of the very few remaining Kwantlen employees from Kwantlen’s original Langley Campus when it was just a store front campus. He came to Kwantlen from the Ministry of Social Services and Housing where he worked for several years as a Social Worker (and in that capacity served on the Screening Committee for applicants to Kwantlen’s programs for people with disabilities).

He was very active in Kwantlen, the Langley community and at the provincial level. In Kwantlen he was a KFA representative on the Rehabilitation Committee as both a member and Chair. He also sat on the Faculty of Academic and Career Advancement (FACA) Curriculum Committee, and the FACA Faculty Council.
In the Langley community, he chaired the Langley Vocational Services Committee, and a participated on the Community Living Day Planning Committee. He also chaired the highly successful Langley 10 X 10 Challenge Committee.

At the provincial level he participated in our own Disability Resource Network of BC (DRNBC) Executive on many levels, from including the DRNBC Annual Conference Chair and Co-Chair as well as the DRNBC Conference Planning Committee. Of course, he was also responsible for the Wall of Fame Awards! Fraser was a DRNBC Award Recipient for Programs in 2010 – for professionalism and excellence in serving people with disabilities in the post-secondary system.

In addition to the aforementioned, he also had an active role as a volunteer at various times with various organizations including:

Semiahmoo Arts Music Committee – White Rock (volunteer 2008-2011)
White Spot Pipe Band (Vice President 2005-2008)
Early Edition Toastmasters – Surrey (President 1996)
BEE Cee Beemers Motorcycle Club (President 1990 & 1992)
UBC’s School of Social Work Student Council (President 1981-1982)

Most importantly, Fraser was a compassionate and caring educator and colleague. He went above and beyond for his students and is deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have worked with him.
