Jan Shiell 2012

Jan originally came to Capilano College 21 years ago as an Assessment specialist.  At that time she was a contract Faculty position, and she worked for the Achieve Resource Centre.  When funding for that service came to an end, Jan moved into Continuing Education, and continued to provide Assessment services for students at Capilano on a contract basis.  It was in 2006 that Jan was given the full time position of Disability Advisor, and has been the single person providing assessment at this institution for many years.

Jan got involved with the DRNBC’s Conference planning committee, and was an active member on that committee from the late 90’s until 2005.  As we know this is a working committee and Jan brought her Services perspective to this committed group.

Jan also was the Services Articulation Rep for Capilano since the year 2000.  These are all important roles to take on, and her colleagues appreciate the many ways that Jan has supported her students, her colleagues and the DRN in her years of involvement.  With her retirement this summer, we wish Jan all the best, and thank her for a job well done!
